@dothidden for public messages decentralized services like status.net or weblogs are great since they distribute the power to take the communication channel down. But for private communication I'm not sure whether #Diaspora & Co. are really the best solution.

#Friendica or #Diaspora are a good starting point for decentralized social networks. But there is one problem I just starting to think about: Is it really better to spread my data over hundreds of pods where I don't know the admins and where I have no chance to delete my data?

@vinzv I had the same feeling. After trying to set up my own #Diaspora pod setting up my own !Friendika installation was a real joy. I also like the integration of other networks.
